PRESCHOOL BOOST
Play Therapy SA is approved to deliver Preschool Boost menu supports across South Australia. Our programs are designed to strengthen children’s social and emotional development through play-based, relationship-focused support.
Kindy-Play: Group Play Therapy
Kindy-Play is a 10-week program that combines small-group Child-Centred Play Therapy with educator training, coaching and reflective practice.
A qualified Play Therapist delivers weekly 30-minute Group Play Therapy sessions for groups of four children. A trained preschool educator co-facilitates each group, helping children receive therapeutic support within a familiar environment and with a trusted educator.
Kindy-Play primarily supports the AEDC domain of Social Competence, while also supporting emotional maturity, communication, language and cognitive skills, and physical health and wellbeing.
Children are supported to develop:
- cooperative play, turn-taking and positive peer relationships
- emotional awareness and regulation
- confidence expressing ideas, needs and feelings
- communication and shared language with peers and educators
- a stronger sense of belonging and participation in preschool routines
Educators receive:
- in-person CCPT-informed training
- in-session modelling and coaching
- time for reflection and planning
- observation and feedback
- online resources to support ongoing practice
Parents are supported to:
- better understand their child’s emotions and behaviour
- respond with warmth, empathy and clear limits
- support emotional regulation and confidence
- strengthen connection and reduce family stress
- use play as a way to build communication and trust
Child-Parent Relationship Training (CPRT)
CPRT is a 10-week evidence-based group program for parents and carers of preschool-aged children. It helps parents strengthen their relationship with their child through therapeutic play and practical child-centred skills.
Parents learn skills such as reflective listening, emotional responding, encouragement, choice-giving and calm limit-setting. Between sessions, parents practise a weekly 30-minute “special playtime” with their child at home.
CPRT primarily supports the AEDC domain of Emotional Maturity, while also supporting social competence, communication, and language and cognitive skills.
